August is an exciting time in Rhinebeck. We host the Dutchess County Fair which brings visitors from all over the country. Some locals get out of town, but our kids are still young enough to have a blast with the All Day Ride Tickets. The 2024 season is from August 20th to 25th so buy your tickets now, we'll see you there!
The Dutchess County Fair has given us some of our local favorite family highlights. A couple of shots from years ago when the kids were little and braved all the rides are below.
Favorite foods: There are multiple options for ice cream, but we are fond of the female-owned JoJo's Farm Fresh Ice Cream. A few more must-haves include maple cotton candy from the Sugar House, chicken pita or gyros from Butcher Boys, kettle corn from What's Poppin' and while the lines are long, the milkshake from the 4-H crew is worth the wait.
Entertainment: There are different Grandstand Shows each night, including Tracy Byrd and Rick Springfield, most of them require an additional ticket purchase so please check the website in advance. There's also free music at the Grandstand Sidebar on Sunday and live music at the Octoberfest Beer & Wine Garden.
Animals: Visit Livestock Hill to see 12 barns housing dairy cows, beef cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, pigs and more! There are free events all day including Rosaire's Racing Pigs, Pawstar's Frisbee Dogs, and our favorite Dock Dogs!
Rides: There are too many to choose from! A few favorites include Khaos, Inferno, Alien Abduction, Magic Maze & Cliffhanger.
We are so excited for this year's fair!
