Timber is not a word to use near a home in Rhinebeck or the surrounding areas.
Up here in the Hudson Valley, we love our trees. They provide protection and shade; they are home to a myriad of creatures. They are the lungs of our planet; they clean our air and provide life-giving oxygen. They dress our landscape and are markers in our memories…tree forts, places to meet, places to go back to.
Unfortunately, they also have a life-span, and they require stewardship and attention. We often neglect them and keep our fingers crossed because, let’s face it…arborists can be expensive. With neglect also comes a price tag. If you think that an aging Elm or Maple looks unwell, it’s time to call in a professional. Many things can be done to keep your beauties healthy and a good arborist has a vested interest in keeping them that way. Not all aging trees need to be taken down. Sadly, this one should have been.
As an Owner’s Representative, we work with clients on both interior and exterior projects. We find that the exterior projects are often neglected and thought this post might prove helpful to our friends out here in the Country with us. Maybe we should all take more time on Arbor Day to learn more about our very tall friends. The folks at the Arbor Day Foundation have some great info.
We will return with more info on wood, trees, and all things Fall. We are just getting started and hope you like the new Vigilus Home blog. For more information please feel free to contact us caroline@vigilushome.com.
